Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is an Indian Hindi language television sitcom. This is India's longest running television show. This show went on air on July 28, 2008. It runs from Monday to Friday on SAB TV. Sony Pal, SonyLiv started reruns of the show.
The show based on the segment Duniya Ne Undha Chashma composed by reporter, essayist, and writer/dramatist Taarak Mehta for the Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha.

The serial happens at the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society, a residential apartment in Powder Gali, Goregaon East, Mumbai around Gada Family which comprises of an effective business man Jethalal Champaklal Gada, his dad Champaklal Jayantilal Gada, his better half Daya and their insidious child Tipendra Tapu Gada who leads his friends circle called "Tapu Sena."
At the outset, Jethalal alongside his better half Daya and child Tapu lives in Gokuldham Society. Getting exhausted of consistently hearing the grumblings of the general public individuals about the hazard made by his child, Jethalal chooses to call his dad Champaklal to watch out for Tapu, yet the inverse occurs, and he holds hands with Tapu. The vast majority of the scenes depend on Jethalal being stuck in an issue, and Taarak Mehta, his closest companion whom he calls his "Fire Brigade" causes him out of it.
The show covers effective issues that are socially pertinent. The inhabitants of Gokuldham face day by day life issues and discover answers for it yet with a virtue in a humorous way. In spite of the fact that Gokuldham Society comprises of 17 flats the show generally centers around the lives of the families, that are of; Jethalal Champaklal Gada, an Electronic retailer from Bhachau; Taarak Mehta, Jethalal's closest companion and a celebrated essayist from Rajasthan; Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, Gokuldham Society's just secretary and a mentor from Ratnagiri; Dr. Hansraj Hathi, an overweight specialist from Bihar; Krishnan Iyer, a lesser researcher from Chennai yet has a Bengali spouse; Roshan Singh Sodhi, a Punjabi carport proprietor having a Parsi wife and Popatlal Panday, a lone wolf writer from Bhopal, a journalist from Toofan Express . They generally help each other in their issues, to advance Unity in Diversity.
